Robin Shellow – Of Counsel
O'Rourke Law Office has affiliated with Robin Shellow of The Shellow Group in an of-counsel relationship. The Shellow Group is a nationally recognized firm with experience in complex state and federal cases. Our affiliation provides a comprehensive package of criminal-defense resources and services otherwise currently unavailable in Fond du Lac or the Fox Valley.
The Shellow Group Brings to Your Case:
Nationally recognized investigators: Whether your case involves civil rights violations, the appeals process, criminal defense against wire fraud, juvenile homicide, or drug charges, we do not rely on evidence gathered by others or the prosecution's version of events. Our investigative staff, which includes retired high-level police personnel, computer forensic specialists, certified public accountants, and other professionals, provides first-rate, in-house fact investigation and analysis.
In-house, master’s level Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) assessment and referral specialists: Alcohol and other forms of drug abuse often play a tremendous role in the lives of our clients. Our AODA specialists inform our defense strategies and help clients obtain appropriate services from treatment centers and non-profit organizations located in the United States and across the globe.
Consultant psychologists: Expert psychologists are critical both to establishing mental-health-based defenses and to refuting false allegations in court. Psychologists work closely with other members of the firm to ensure that clients receive help when needed. They help prepare effective defense strategies, choose the makeup of juries, and select expert witnesses who cannot be discredited by the prosecution.
Robin Shellow's unique approach to criminal defense arises from a complex background. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College without ever attending high school, and later received a second bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Cambridge University. Her thesis discussed the relationship between journalism and fiction in the works of Arthur Koestler, which may explain why she is intuitively adept at persuading the press to tell her clients' tragic and ironic stories. Whether quoted in an award-winning front-page New York Times piece about a child who came from four generations of homicide, or making a quip on the front page of The Milwaukee Journal after an acquittal in a federal fraud case, Robin Shellow uses the press to her client's advantage when appropriate.
For reasons both striking and subtle, Robin Shellow emerged as a lawyer trusted by judges, prosecutors and juries. Her most significant ability is an incredible intensity when she listens. She listens to what her clients say and figures out what they want to express but can't. She listens to clients' parents, coworkers and friends to learn what will motivate her clients. She listens to the counselor and investigator on her staff, and the psychologist who is an integral member of the Shellow Group team. She then incorporates their insights as she develops theories of defense and approaches to prosecutors that will secure favorable recommendations for pretrial resolutions.
She brings deep understanding to her trials, and juries recognize truth as she carefully elicits it from witnesses. She tries each case as though the following day is Judgment Day and she will be judged on one trial alone.
